Appearance

The Dutch Shepherd comes in three varieties: long-haired, short-haired, and wire-haired. They have a very muscular and symmetrical body. The muzzle is long and the teeth are strong and regular. This breed has dark eyes and small ears.

Country of Origin:   Holland

Life Range:   12 to 14 years

Height Range:   22” to 25”

Weight Range:   66 to 67 lbs.

Colors:   Various shades of brindle, including gray, yellow, silver, red or gold brindle, and blue.

Trainability:   The Dutch Shepherds are among the most competent of all shepherd dogs at such tasks as agility, catch, obedience, guard work, herding, and field trailing. This is an intelligent, easy to train, and eager breed.

With Children:   These dogs do well with children.

Other Pets:   Dutch Shepherds enjoy the company of their own kind and get along great with other animals.

Climate:  This breeds all weather coat enables them to do well in cold climates.

Indoor / Outdoor:   The Dutch Shepherd will do okay in an apartment if it is properly exercised.

Exercise Required:   Dutch Shepherds need to be kept both physically and mentally exercised. They make great jogging companions.

Grooming Required:   Both long and short-haired varieties require regular grooming with a comb and brush to remove dead and loose hairs.
