Renowned for speed and endurance, the American English Coonhound has a strong but racy body, a deep chest with plenty of lung room, a strong back, broad loin and well-defined musculature. A balanced, powerful dog with no exaggerated parts, the American English possesses the grace and attitude of a well-conditioned athlete.

Colors: Red and white ticked, blue and white ticked, tri-colored with tickling, red and white, white and black.
Trainability: American English Coonhounds are energetic, intelligent and active. Their great sense make them excellent hunters. This breed is extremely fast, hot-trailing competitive type coonhounds.
With Children: Usually best with older considerate children, but they can also do well with younger children.
Other Pets: Some can be a bit dog-aggressive and reserved with strangers.
Climate: Does well in all climates.
Indoor / Outdoor: These dogs are not recommended for apartment life. They are very active indoors and do best with acreage.
Exercise Required: Natural hunters require regular exercise and an American English Coonhound is definitely one. Exercise may be in the form of regular walks, playtime in an open field and swimming.
Grooming Required: Baths should be give when necessary and not too frequently. Regular brushing of its coat should be done to keep it clean.
